Tips and strategy for playing online games

Get better weapon as quickly as possible
At the start you only get a handful selection of weak weaponry with iron sights that limit you visibility and aiming. Fortunately, the battlefield is littered with casualties that can be used to your advantages. Grab the best available weapon you can get as quickly as possible then head for cover.

Taking cover smartly
Death is brutal in Call of Duty 4, a single shot can give a premature death. Pick you cover smartly, make sure it a hard cover not just a wooden fence or tin roof. The best cover is when it protect all of your sides, enemy may come from your six o'clock.

Prone often
When cover is not available nearby , prone will give you steady aim and present smallest possible silhoutte, which makes you harder to hit. Run quickly, prone, run quickly prone. Even prone in grasses will significantly increase your chance of survival. Prone among dead bodies is also great for camouflage.

Team play
John Rambo is already dead very early in this game, because he ignores team play. You may quickly outgunned and outnumbered when wandering alone in this game. Always walk behind a group of team mates, never on the front. Always check your six, someone may pop-up from behind and spray your teams with hot lead shower.

Dear old knife
Knife is very short-ranged yet kills instantly. When the enemy is very close, rifle may become unwieldy, knife is the best weapon to dispatch an enemy real quick, when walk inside building, be ready to quickly use knife when someone bump into you.

Time your special abilities
Use your special abilities smartly, use it the right moment. How to know the best moment to use these abilities? Use it when your option is to die or use everything available at your disposal.

CoD4 is certainly an extremely intense experience for any gamer, the new aiming style perhaps it a little easier than most would have liked. You can navigate through the entire game in a mere handful of hours, making it seems a lite-version for serious CoD fans. They might now be delighted to know there is a new patch coming up.

As have been told in the official CoD forums, the Infinity Ward's Community Relations Manager revealed that there are not only one, but two patches are to be released on a certain date to address several issues for online mode, new various settings, and new features such as host-migration and a new control system. Although patches in games have become an inevitable part of online games, which makes you wonder why the legendary game developer with a reputation for smooth game releases would not have ironed out the last few creases before its release.

Quick Overview on Prestige Mode

The highest level in multiplayer is 65, which unlocks the Prestige mode. In Prestige mode, the player can trade in all of their rank, and start over at level 1, in exchange for a special in-game insignia by their name. The player can trade in their rank and start over at level 1 up to ten times, with the prestige insignia changing each time, effectively giving the player 715 total ranks. Players can save and name their custom classes for quick access in multiplayer matches. Most of the new weapons and perks that players can use to outfit their custom class will be unlocked as they gain experience ranks, but there are also a separate number of challenges associated with each weapon that will subsequently open up new add-on gear as players complete them.

Can't lock on to tank issue

Many players complained that they found difficulty in destroying the tank with Javelin, at this stage it is still unclear whether this issue is a bug or the Javelin ATGM just have a distinctive operational procedure.

Using Javelin ATGM in Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare requires optimum firing range, the missile will fail to lock-on if the range is too close. The missile's optical sight will give you arrows pointing to the enemy tanks. Point the weapon in the necessary direction you'll get a rectangle reticule on the screen along with a beeping sound. When the Javelin locks the beeping will become a steady tone and crosshairs will appear on the reticule. The weapon has a lock and it's time to fire.

Try to have a clear line of sight to the target. It's not absolutely necessary, but a few times I've had the missile slam into one of the building in the courtyard before it went vertical. It's a great way to send a bunch of Marines to the happy hunting ground.
